STA Patented!

I am happy to announce that the Critical Aspect Inc. STA (single tank adapter) has now been awarded a US PATENT! This simple yet effective design is similar to other manufacturer's STA's...but with one noteworthy difference. This STA has a pair of "stabilizer bars" that are angled to match the back of The Pterodactyl backplate. This design attaches to a single tank the same as other STA's...with a pair of cambands (an alternate method is to use stainless steel clamps). The STA attaches to The Pterodactyl backplate by sliding the two 5/16th inch bolts through the bolt holes of the backplate and tightening-down the wingnuts in front. Once so attached, The STA and single tank cannot wobble...a very solid connection! This simple design eliminates any "tank wobble" whatsoever. Not that "tank wobble" would kill your dive...but why put-up with it? The only down-side is that this design cannot fit other backplates (which have a much shallower recess). The "stabilizer bars" are made from heavy stock to prevent bending should the tank fall-over on it's side. Also, The STA is sold with and without the pair of cambands.
