AWESOME PRODUCT REVIEW

Hello everyone! Last Summer I lent a Pterodactyl Backplate/Harness System to Sean Harrison of TDI, SDI, ERDI. Sean's a very busy guy but he was finally able to send me his review of this innovative product. Sean Harrison's Review, Oct. 25, 2009...

I found The Pterodactyl Backplate / Harness System perhaps one of the most versatile backplates I have ever used. I had the opportunity to use the backplate, without preparation, while teaching the open water portion of an open water course. I hooked-up the Pterodactyl to a single cylinder, slipped into the harness and within a minute or two…the harness was fitting as if I had spent hours getting it ready. During the dive the system never needed any further adjustment. Very impressive!

Just to see how the Pterodactyl would work with doubles (hoping for the same results I had already experienced), I hooked it up to my doubles and took it for a few dives. The Pterodactyl did not let me down. The Pterodactyl held my doubles tight to my back. Again, this required no more adjustment than a tightening of the waist belt and a quick adjustment of the Mega Buckle (another impressive feature). The weight distribution was very good when carrying doubles and stage bottles. I found the “D” rings very easy to use and the Flying “D” rings a nice feature. With the vertical orientation of the Flying “D” rings, equipment stowed on the shoulder harness lays tight against the body.

All and all, the Pterodactyl is good for sport and technical diving. It is equally well-suited for single or double cylinder use with no adjustments need for the transition.

Great job Gary! I never thought diving a back plate could be made easier.
