The Pterodactyl Evolves

In the continuing interest of improving The Pterodactyl Backplate/Harness System, I have decided to move-ahead with designing a variation of this already innovative product to fit some of the most commonly-used rebreathers. This evolution of the Pterodactyl will take some time to bring to market. However, it will be terrific when it is finally acomplished. Of course, the patented harness rollers and "D" rings (as with the current model) will be included with this variation. I am imagining a Pterodactyl OC (the current model for open circuit) and a Pterodactyl R (for rebreathers). Also, I am now including a secondary (plastic) belt buckle attached to the right ("free") end of the waist belt to fasilitate "gearing-up" by preventing that end of the harness from pulling-out of the harness roller. Pictured above is the primary buckle in stainless and the newly-added black plastic buckle (as seen from the diver's viewpoint). This secondary buckle will now be standard with this product at no additonal cost.

GEOGRAPHIC RESTRICTIONS

In the interest of protecting dive shops that are distributors of the Pterodactyl Backplate/Harness System from undue competition from neighboring dive shops, CRITICAL ASPECT INC. is considering enacting GPR. What's GPR, you ask? GEOGRAPHIC PROXIMITY RESTRICTION. Basically, it works like this...dive shop A is already an authorized dealer of my products and, later-on, dive shop B requests that they also be an authorized dealer. If dive shop B is more than 100 miles away from dive shop A, then that request is granted. However, if dive shop B is 100 miles or less from dive shop A, then that request is politely-declined. I still need to work-out the details (the distance may vary from 100 miles) and I need to acquire a good mechanism to quickly-determine distance (Google Earth, Map Quest?), but it is a possible addition to the Terms and Conditions of being an authorized dealer of CAI products in the near future. The GPR, along with the current MAP (Minimum Allowable Price), are devices that protect existing dealers from excessive competition and help create a favorable business climate that, ultimately, benefits CAI and all the divers who use CAI products. So, in view of the possibility that CAI may enact GPR in the near future...it would obviously be sound advice to any dive shop that is considering becoming an authorized dealer to do so SOON. Whoever get's there first, get's the rights to sell CAI products. All that is required to become an authorized dealer is: a distributor must be a legitimate retailer of scuba diving products (whether a "brick and mortar" store or an online store), must purchase at least one Pterodactyl and must accept the Terms and Conditions. Don't delay. If you snooze...you lose!
